Abstract: In this thesis we are looking into whether subsidized jobs help to shorten duration spells for unemployed people. First we thoroughly go over the model for the Danish labour market, then we look into the relevant theory for duration analysis, and last we perform the analysis. As subsidized jobs are meant to help unemployed people to find a permanent job, the expectation was that it would indeed help. This is not the case. Even though a lot of people finish end the participation untimely and early in the subsidized employment, it seems that the general case is, that the duration spells are prolonged. Particularly the public subsidized jobs, where there are big groups of participants that complete the subsidized job duration of either 26 or 52 weeks. These weeks count as unemployment, and hence completing the activity prolongs the entire spell.
